Before the picture you see below, we took a group picture and of course I was the tallest so I got pushed to the back. So of course I grab a chair to stand next to (at the time) Senator Obama. So I did, and as the exited children ran to hug him I was pushed off that chair and this man caught me so I wouldn’t bust my butt.
It was the greatest moment of my life because he wasn’t just a candidate he was human and genuinely cared about if I was ok. He asked if I was ok and all I could do was just stare and nod and eventually say thank you.President Obama I want to thank you for your years of unwavering humanity in the face of diversity.
Now that Donald Trump is the 45th president of the United States, I am in a constant state of fear. I no longer feel safe to be in this country. His rhetoric, his smug demeanor, his misogynistic views and out looks on this world is what makes me sick. As a journalist, you are supposed to really stay away from having an opinion, but I just can’t hold this in, knowing that the host of “The Apprentice” is now in charge of one of the world superpower countries. This is a prime example of what happens when people do not vote and they let race determine what is right.
